Thinking of leaving Drupal

This blog is running on Drupal, which is a wonderful content management system which does everything. And I use approximately 4% of its power. Meanwhile I'm having to keep up to date with security alerts and things for the mass of plugins I installed "just in case" so that nobody can hack my site, as happened a few years back with an old, forgotten install of PHP Nuke.

I moved to Drupal from Blogger because I had grand ideas of things to do - things I never got around to, not least because my life was changed the moment this was posted. Meanwhile, Blogger has improved and improved, and does everything I actually need right now - without me having to worry about keeping on top of things. Sooo... I'm thinking of swapping back to Blogger.

Anybody have any thoughts? Or care in the slightest?

go back

for what it's worth, leff ditched drupal a while back and switched to blogger. he's not had any complaints.

with the new "beta" version, it's actually quite stable and no where near as buggy as it had been.

two cents. spend it as you'd wish. ;D

yeah

It's true. I left Drupal for exactly the same reasons. It's good software, but it's too much and it's constant work, even if you're not blogging a lot.

Blogger doesn't do everything just right. It makes it hard for me to be pedantic about my markup, for one. But on the other hand, it's a freaking blog. Who cares if there are br's instead of p's?

Well, the pedantry you can

Well, the pedantry you can muster depends on your hosting solution - you're on blogspot which removes all the hassle, but you can host on your own server (via S/FTP) and do whatever you like (although you lose access to all the cool widget stuff).

It does also mean that you can run your own backup should Google decide to, I don't know, close your account without any notice ;)
