Microsoft Guilty of Using Pirated Software

The links's to a German language website, run through the Google translation thingy. Basically there's a bunch of WAV files that are in a default Windows XP installation that are tagged, showing that they were edited in Sonic Foundry (now Sony) Sound Forge 4.5. No problem there, we use that particular piece of software at work - it gets bundled with various pieces of Macromedia software. The problem comes from the fact that the username it is registered to is "Dropz0ne" - a founder member of a cracking group with a penchant for audio software. Sounds like someone downloaded a serial number to me...

So next time you're having to go through a software audit at your place of work, and you're desperately trying to find all your licensing information, just remember: the operating system you're probably using has certain files installed that were made by cracked software. Think of the size of the yolk in the egg that has just landed on Microsoft's evil, grinning face.
